My boyfriend left me because of my culture.

A couple days ago, my (ex) boyfriend (20M) left me (19F) because of cultural pressures. We had been together officially for 2 months but were talking since November 2019. I'm Indian and he's Caucasian. He had mentioned a couple times that he was nervous about meeting my parents (which wasn't going to happen for a long time) and about not being approved or accepted into my culture. I told him that it may be hard at first and my family might need a little time to come around, but that we could work it out together, if we just stayed strong and persisted. This calmed him down momentarily, but it resurfaced again and eventually led to our breakup.

What bothers me the most is the fact that he didn't really explore my culture with me, he didn't ask me questions about it, and he hasn't been exposed to it. A lot of his perceptions of it are based on this facebook group called 'Subtle Curry Traits' which is a page filled with memes based on Indian culture (a lot to do with strict parents). EDIT: These memes are made by Indian kids for Indian kids as a way of relating to one another and consoling in each other. They aren’t racist, it’s a way of connecting with those who have immigrant parents. Therefore there is some truth to them but I told him that those memes are very dramatised and that my parents are pretty chill and would accept him in time. He told me "but they (the memes) have to come from some place of truth right?" He was worried about being restricted in the future because of it, and wasn't sure if that's what he wanted. I do understand that my culture is different, and it can be scary to face potential disapproval, but i'm upset that he didn't even try. That I wasn't worth the struggle. He told me that it was nothing to do with me and that he cared about me so much, but I deserved better than someone who wasn't sure if he saw a future with me. He he had a bad gut feeling.

In the end he told me that he needed space and time to figure everything out, and that he hopes our paths cross again, but to not wait for him.

If he comes back to me, should I take him back? We we're so good for each other, we understood each other the way no one else did (cheesy i know, but that's how we truly felt.) But I also don't want to be the kind of person to be at someones beck and call.

TL;DR: My (ex) boyfriend left me because he was scared of our cultural differences.

EDIT: Included how long we'd been together
