Tl;dr: I don’t like to be heard during sex. My boyfriend gaslights me about it so I feel bad either way. And self conscious.

I (40 F) don’t know why but my boyfriend (30 M) acts like this is unreasonable and every single time I’m self conscious about this, he guffaws. It creeps me out thinking someone can hear us having sex. He just moved into a new apartment and told me his friend sleeps on the other side of the wall and I had these weird subconscious romantic/cuddle dreams about his friend all night. I’ve never been attracted to this person before. 8 yr relationship.

I’m stressed that this is going to stifle me a lot and I’ve always had this problem. And every guy I’ve ever brought it up to acts like I’m a prude or something. I really almost think they want to brag about the fact that they’re having sex and want everyone to know. Or they don’t care who does know. I’ve always felt protective of the fact and feel like it has to do with some biological need for self protection. Or maybe I’m just a prude. I can say, I get supremely grossed out when I hear other people having sex. Permanently scarred by hearing mine and my friends parents. Lol.
