I feel so paranoid posting this in case she might find this. I moved into my dorm at college a few weeks ago and met my roommate the same day. I’m from a different state and had to move in with someone the school matched me with. The previous weeks before we met we had emailed each other to find out what each us should bring and to try and get to know each other better. I tried asking her basic questions about her personal life (what her major was, where she was from, etc.) but she continued to email me while ignoring my questions. She only wanted to discuss what each of us would bring. I offered to get the mini-fridge and some bathroom items to share, but she demanded that she would bring everything and the only thing I should bring is my personal stuff. I found this really odd but I just assumed she was picky about what she wanted in the dorm. When I initially met her, I was very happy with her as a roommate. She began to open up a little more. She seemed smart, and somewhat quiet and awkward which might have explained her weird emails, but overall I was really happy to get someone who didn’t seem extremely into the party scene and who was another STEM major. I saw us being good roommates but not really great friends. After spending about 20 minutes talking with her the first day, I left her in the room and decided to walk around campus a bit to explore. I was gone for about 2 hours and when I came back to the room, she was sitting on the floor with her laptop looking very angry at me. I asked her what was wrong and she started yelling at me telling me I shouldn’t have left her alone and telling me I should “watch my back” in the future. Since then we have barely spoken to each other. I was fine with this, until I started noticing red blinking dots around the dorm, about 3 or 4 days after initially moving in. I immediately felt something was off. All these red glowing dots are all over the items she insisted on bring over and the walls/ceilings. They are inside the mini fridge, on the mirror, on her posters, and there are 7 of them in the bathroom alone! These small dots also only turn red whenever I’m within 10-15 feet of them too, which makes me believe they are cameras... I asked her what they were the first day I noticed them and she told me they were therapy lights for her seizures. I never heard of something like that before but I would feel really disrespectful accusing her of lying. I don’t know if I am over reacting or not but I have felt incredibly uncomfortable while showering the last few weeks. One day I even took one of the lights from the bathroom off to investigate what it really is, and she texted me to put it back despite it only being 10 minutes since I took it off and her not being at the dorm. I’m currently looking to switch rooms but my college says they charge a 500 dollar dorm transfer fee that is non negotiable... I don’t really have money for that. I’m also scared she has footage of me changing clothes and showering.
TLDR My roommate has “therapy lights” all around our dorm, including our bathroom, to help her with seizures. I have a good feeling these glowing red lights are cameras.
