My (35 F) friend (32 F) quit her job to be a YouTuber. I told her I don’t think that’s a good idea and now she is upset.

Tl;DR: My friend quit her job to be a YouTuber. I don’t think that’s realistic and was very blunt about it. She is upset and I’m feeling guilty.

So my really good friend decided to quit her job because she wants to make money on YouTube.

The thing is, from what I understand, she doesn’t have much money saved. She now has about 4K followers on Instagram (but only a few hundred in YouTube). I just don’t think she will make enough money to live. She even pays a video editor, so she already has expenses!

She told me about it and I couldn’t help but ask to reconsider. I literally said “I don’t think you will make any money, and if you do, it won’t be enough to pay bills”. She asked if I was saying she couldn’t be successful, and I said “Not as a YouTuber.”

After that she got very upset, told me that’s her dream and that I was not supportive of her dream. She said “I don’t need that kind of energy and negativity”.

I feel like I’m right, but now I’m thinking that maybe I did go overboard. Our relationship got a bit distant.

Was I out of line? Should I apologize? Should I have a different conversation with her?
