I (30M) have had sudden good memories of a childhood friend and really miss him. Has that ever happened to anyone?

I had one friend growing up who was very close. Ultimately around the end of high school we lost contact and neither of our families pushed us to stay connected...which I think is unfortunate in retrospect.

Anyway, today I just felt this random really powerful nostalgia for hanging out with him and I'm really sad that I probably won't see him again and don't even know where he is. It's kind of an odd feeling that just hit me. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

tl;dr Suddenly really miss an old friend. Wondering if other people have experienced this?
