Since Covid-19 my parents have been hit pretty hard financially. Although they have to live paycheck to paycheck, they have never asked any money from me.
I‘m in a situation right now where money is okay but not a big problem. I’ve been thinking about sending my parents some of the money I make every month, so that they can live a more comfortable life. It’s not much (150-200$) but should help them to buy other stuff besides food as well.
My girlfriend however is pretty sad about it and does not want me to spend money on my parents. She thinks unless they do not specifically ask for money, I should not send them any. She rather wants me to spend the money on us (for better food, clothes, furniture, etc).
I really do love my parents. It’s hard for me to see them suffer like this due to the current situation but I also do not want to make my gf mad. What would be the best approach in this situation?
