How do I (26F) get my son’s (5M) dad (28M) to rehire his nanny (28F) after accidentally getting her fired?

I (26) have a 5 year old son with James (28). We weren’t dating but had a summer fling which resulted in our son. My son has a nanny (Zoe, 28) whenever he’s with his dad. Zoe usually does drop offs/pickups and we’ve become friends over the past three years. Some of James’ family live abroad so he occasionally takes our son to see them. Zoe usually goes on these trips with him and she usually gives me regular updates during the trips just to give me peace of mind.

Anyway, James has a history of being a bit of a playboy. During one of these trips one of his hook-ups ended up stealing an expensive necklace from his mum. His dad was pretty pissed since it was an anniversary gift and there was a big fight over it. I’m going to admit, me and Zoe joked about it a few times after it happened.

Me and James have recently decided to give a real relationship a try. It’s been going great so far, except a week ago we had an argument. He wants to take our son to see his grandparents, but his parents have banned him from bringing anyone with him that isn’t his wife/fiancée. When I asked why they’d banned him he wouldn’t give me a straight answer. I ended up getting frustrated and said I wasn’t going to steal his mother’s jewellery. He was angry I knew about that and asked who told me. He asked our son if it was him and he said no so it was obvious it was Zoe. He ended up firing her for “spying on him for me”. I feel like a massive asshole since she’s lost her job in the middle of a pandemic because I couldn’t keep my mouth shut. I’ve been trying to get James to rehire her but he’s refusing to unless I tell him everything she’s told me about his private life. The problem is she’s told me a lot of other things about him and I highly doubt he will rehire her if I tell him the truth. I’ve tried lying about it, but he doesn’t believe she hasn’t said anything else. Please help me find a way to convince him to rehire her.

TL;DR – My son’s nanny told me about one of his dad’s hook-ups stealing from his mum. I ended up letting it slip that I knew during an argument and he fired her because he thought she was spying on him for me. How do I get him to rehire her?
