My (29M) girlfriend (30F) just demanded money due to having her hours cut at work, after I offered to pay 100% of the house bills.

So things between us aren't great and I'm not in a good place in the relationship. Not looking for advice, just to vent.

With Covid things have been pretty tough, luckily my job is pretty set in stone (gov funded position) but I've been pulling alot of longer days to make sure my organisation makes it through.

My SO was initially put onto the retention scheme (UK) at 100%, still complained about not working though.... Since has been put back into full time work.

Recently she got a call from her boss to say her hours would be cut so that they could be shared between the other workers in her branch (apparently someone was complaining about getting shafted over pay) however I think it's to do with the head office testing out the new scheme before it's made live. They want to keep people till January for that sweet gov bonus.....

Anyway I digress.

So following this I get shouted at for trying to have a conversation about money and budgeting, to which I respond "if need be my salary can cover the house bills for a while and you can focus on your own expenses" (she has hobbies that I won't support because if you want to do them then budget for them, that's equality)...

Eventually she settles down and we sit and budget out, of course not as bad as she thinks, still not great though. And I get the following gem from her "well it might be that your money isn't your money for a while if I loose any more hours"

I reiterate areas we discussed where she can make savings in her budget but devolves into me getting shouted at for not being supportive.

Seriously I'm starting to get really sick of not being treated as an equal but in the very traditional roll of needing to be the sole breadwinner, that's not how this works, not if you want nice things....

TL;Dr: after being informed of her paycut due to covid and me offering to pay the bills so she can afford her hobbies, I get told my money is not mine to keep if she needs it....
