A guy I went to school with (26m) about 8 years ago just became a county sheriff in my area. For context, I live in a highly populated, very liberal city that has been participating heavily in protests. When we were in school, he had a gun rack on his truck, and a large stick on it that he endearingly referred to as his "N****r stick". I also have seen him a few times since high school where he has made blatantly racist remarks.
I hated him throughout school and haven't talked to him since then, but I saw through a mutual friends feed that he just finished the academy.
Because of all the recent developments in racism within the police force, I feel obligated to shed some light on this; but at the same time I don't really know if he's changed his ways. What should I do, if anything?
Tl:Dr; a racist guy I went to school with became a cop about three days before George Floyd was murdered. Should I tell people in my community he's racist or assume he's changed?
