My father has borrowed close to $1M, dried up my grandparents’ savings, doesn’t have money for food, but insists on “building a business”

My father (55M) moved to the US when I was a baby. Left my mom behind, didn’t send a dollar over my whole life. He had a good head start in his home country (education, family etc) but wanted more. He went to pursue the “American dream” except it never worked out. While he could’ve made it big in his home country he ended up doing low skilled labor until he came across a chunk of money after an event. That’s when he started a business (4-5 years ago). It was never profitable, he’s been borrowing money from literally everyone he’s ever talked to. Friends, friends’ partners, etc. Until everyone, except for his parents, cut him off. He managed to dry up all my grandparents’ (who partially raised me and I care about very much) savings and every time “it’s the last time”. Fast forward to today. I moved to the US, graduated w student loans, work, independent, stopped talking to him a while ago except for a few times to get mad that he’s ruining my grandparents’ few years left (they’re very concerned about him). Now he has lost 20 kgs, started forgetting things after 20 min, you have to spend a long time explaining simple things to him, couldn’t sleep anymore from stress (he hasn’t had an income in 4 years and has probably close to 1M in debt), doesn’t know how to do simple things anymore. Given the situation we took him to his home country to get care (he doesn’t have health insurance in the US). He did a brain scan and other stuff (everything ofc sponsored by either me, my grandparents or other family). We’re waiting on the MRI to see if there’s something wrong in his brain. Now he wants to go back to the US because he “built a business” and “we’ll see he’ll make millions and pay everything back” and “we don’t believe in him”. He can’t keep staying with my grandparents because he’s slowly killing them (I had a massive crying breakdown today because His landlord called me screaming and I had to pay his rent which really made my grandma sad cause she’s never seen me cry), but also if he goes back he’ll probably end up being homeless or arrested for fraud or who knows. It’s messed up to say but I almost hope the MRI shows something so we can consider a mental health facility and he doesn’t live with my grandparents nor go back and get more debt.

He barely did anything for me my whole life and I didn’t sign up for this but my grandparents are so stressed and I don’t know what to do anymore.

That was a big vent sorry. TLDR; my (28F) dad is dreaming of building businesses but doesn’t have a dollar in his pocket, dried up my grandparents’ savings, appears to have severe mental health issues(taboo in his home country) and expects the family to support his wild dreams. He’s now in his home country but fully expects to go back and that would mean he’ll keep asking for money.
