My [F23] girlfriend [F23] and I have been together for almost four years, and she's one of the most amazing people I know. I admire her for so many reasons, and we communicate very well. One of the reasons we're so good together is because we're both creators in adjacent fields (there's a lot of crossover).
I graduated before her, last year, and have been slowly making connections/working my up in the industry. She just graduated, and as of this month has been getting a lot of attention from local professionals who want to work with her/meet with her, etc. Way more than I did when I graduated.
Don't get me wrong—I am extremely excited for her, and proud of her. She is an amazing, intelligent, hardworking woman and she deserves every bit of this. But at the same time she always tells me about meetings she's having with important people, and "ins" she's getting at big companies, and I get this instinctual envy reaction? I often find myself deflating once she leaves the room, stewing in my own head, wondering why this didn't happen to me, and what I'm doing wrong.
How do I stop feeling like this?
TL;DR—My girlfriend has recently become more successful than I in a career field we share. I want to be happy for her. How do I stop feeling envious/inadequate?
