My (29F) roommate (30M) just flew from Canada to visit his cousin in the US without telling me during the COVID-19 pandemic.
My roommate originally told me he was staying with a friend out of town. Today, I see him post a photo on social media with his cousins who I know live in the states. I confront him and he admits he flew to the US to visit them (non-essential travel).
Since my boyfriend has asthma, and my parents are extremely high risk (we are bubbling with them) I can't risk seeing my parents or have my BF around him when he comes back.
In Canada, a mandatory 2-week quarantine is required after air travel (with or without symptoms). Therefore, I suggested that he stay with his parent's the week he comes back, and we'd stay at my parent's house for the second week (just to compromise!). He then blows up at me saying I'm making a bigger deal out of this than it should be and that air travel is very "low risk".
We feel very mistreated for a) Being lied to and b) Having to uproot OUR lives so that he can do his quarantine alone. We both lease the apartment so we can't kick him out (we still wouldn't even if I could). He'll be back in 2 weeks. What do you think we should do? And how the hell did he manage getting past the border???
TLDR: Caught roommate flying from Toronto to Utah to visit relatives (non-essential travel). He refuses to compromise with quarantine measures when he returns home.
