So I guess for some back story this friend of mine lives pretty far away so we only ever message over snap in the 2 years we’ve known each other. We’re in pretty close contact usually him messaging me just to see what I’m up to a few times a day so we never really get into much conversation. I game a lot mostly as a hobby when I’m at home and not busy and it’s usually my “happy place” to release stress and not have to deal with other people etc so 3 months ago might’ve been the first time it happened where I went an entire day without messaging him. Between gaming, chores, went for a walk, whatever it may have been, I got a message from him that night along the lines of, “if you’re going to ignore me for so long while you game at least call me and talk so I’m not bored” so after a short discussion I said we could talk sometime while I game so he isn’t bored, even watch or play too if he wanted to. So a mix of those happens on and off over the past few months when we were free but as of lately he’s been messaging me a lot more often and even multiple times a day when he sees I’m gaming or logged on snap saying when he is and isn’t free hinting that I should call him or actually saying he’s bored and wants to talk/ play a game. I made passing comments how he needs to get more friends or a hobby since it feels like I’m the only person he actually talks to, but its becoming more of an annoyance to me lately since I like gaming specifically by myself and use it as a place to relax and also I am actually busy sometimes and these repeated messages start to get on my nerves after a while. I’ve gone pretty far out of my way to start ignoring his messages after telling him I’ll be busy or I’ll be out when he asks to do something. I don’t know what to say to him, I feel like if I say leave me alone for a while he’ll take it too personally because like Id mentioned, I feel like I’m the only one he talks to, and if I let this keep going on I’ll resent him.
tl;dr my friend constantly wants to game with me or talk on the phone and it’s becoming annoying and I don’t want to ruin our friendship
