Sorry if this isn't worded well. We just got into a fight and I'm very shook up about it so it's hard to type.
My boyfriend and I have been together 7 years. In 2018, we broke up for 2 months, but got back together and moved into our own place again.
He's not physically abusive only verbally. He's very selfish, it's a one sided relationship, he constantly gaslights me and says things to hurt me. I'm not trying to get into all the details but bottom line, I'm done with it and want to leave.
My issue is that he is always home and it's very scary to try and leave when he's around. We have 4 pets that he initially bought. However, since getting them I exclusively pay for everything and take care of them. My pets are everything to me and have helped me get through plenty of hard times.
Every time I try to leave, my boyfriend threatens to take my pets or take me court. He says he's doesn't want them and would only do it out of spite to hurt me. Honesty, it's the only reason I'm still around. I'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice on how to safely leave and keep all pets?
Tldr: I'm trying to leave my verbally abusive boyfriend but he's threatening to take my pets away.
