SO to my brother for making me doubt my own sanity and judgement.
I've been dating my partner for six months now. He's a pretty nice guy. We're both stuck in this pandemic away from our families. He comes to visit me each weekend. We're planning to move in together soon. He wants to - I'm not so sure. It just feels like it's too soon at times, but he's so excited at the prospect and planning our time together and making me do workouts with him.
The problem lies in his behavior when we are cooking together. Sometimes, he'll just take a deep breath in, get in my face and snarl "just fucking get on with it" like he's actually angry. And then when I express that I'm worried about this behavior and I'm not sure if he's joking, he just laughs to himself.
The other day, we messed up a recipe and he got so mad that he threw a fork in the sink. It reminded me of past abuses from my brother, who has a volatile personality, and I started panicking quite badly. He didn't apologize or try to console me.
My biggest worry is that I'll meet someone who would just turn around and backhand me in the face. And I won't know any better, because I would justify it by myself being oversensitive or psycho. However, it does mean that I read too much into things. Like, my ex partner was a super nice guy but he used to have sex with me when I said no. But like, did he really or am I playing the victim role as usual?
I guess my question is - from an outsider perspective, what would you do in this situation? What would you advise to be done?
TL;DR - Past abuse causes me to overthink situation and I need advice on current relationship with boyfriend who is caring, but sometimes angry.
