She had sex with a guy from college once with no condom. She caught chlamydia from him and feels she caught HIV from him too. She took the HIV test at or university medical center and the test became negative. You think she will no longer be worried? Nope. She still thinks she has HIV because she has a small cold around the sexual encounter and is convinced it’s the early acute HIV symptoms so she must have it.
I told her she was tested negative and she said that she thinks the woman made a mistake telling her it’s a 4 generation HIV test (accurate at 30 days) and gave her a regular antibody test (accurate at 90 days). She had unprotected sex 35 before taking the test. I said that is unlikely they would tell her a test that wasn’t gonna be performed especially since she is the one who TOOK HER BLOOD!!!!
Do you think my friend is being irrational or have every reason to feel this way?
TL;DR: friend has irrational fear of HIV
