As the title states, my mom has gotten quite insistent that I bring my brother places when I go with my boyfriend.
(For the record, I live with both my mom and brother at the time while I save up to move back out again. So this move in is definitely temporary for me.)
I understand my mom feels that he would like to go some of the places I go with my boyfriend, especially since my brother is disabled and does not drive. But, I REALLY do not want my brother third wheeling with me. Now that my boyfriend and I no longer get to live together, we don't get as much time to spend apart from other people around us.
Yesterday this happened again because I told her my boyfriend and I were going to have Thanksgiving early (which would be today) at his parent's house. She insisted that my brother should get to go with us. I told her I wasn't taking him and she kept saying "You really should take him with you". I briefly explained that we were going straight to his parent's in the afternoon long before he gets home from his schooling and we would not be waiting around for him because we wanted to be there early. She eventually dropped it.
Most of the occasions are me saying that I will be going out to go on a date with my boyfriend, her asking what I would be doing, me telling her, and her saying my brother would like to go.
I don't directly involve my brother in this because I know it would probably make him upset that I don't invite him. He's usually the pushy one about getting to go to places he wants.
My mom should be more understanding to this because she doesn't like it if I or my brother wanted to tag along with her and her boyfriend. Why is it any different for me? If I want my brother to go, I will invite him myself. As I have done plenty of times.
TL;DR: So basically, my question is- How exactly do I explain it to my mom to where she understands I don't want my brother going with me to everything I do with my boyfriend?
