My boyfriend of 5 years called me a cunt today. He only started doing this a month ago, and each time he calls me one I tell me to never do it again, that it hurts, and that it is extremely disrespectful.
Each time he tells me things like “it’s just a word” or “I’m just describing your behavior”, which only adds to my frustration. Today I finally snapped. He called me one for saying that he didn’t clean the kitchen when he said he was going to.
Let’s just say what followed was a pretty big fight that only got worse when he tried to rationalize and justify him calling me that name. He is now sleeping on the couch because I’m “selfish” (?)
How do I get him to understand the hurt that comes along with that name without being told “it’s just a word” or “I don’t think it’s a big deal” ?
TL;DR: my boyfriend started calling me a cunt about a month ago, tells me it’s just a word and doesn’t understand why I get so upset. How do I handle this situation?
