We’ve been married for a year and a half.
For valentine’s day, my husband gave me a set of keys and a picture of a house. He was very excited about it and said he had bought us “our” dream house. I’ve never seen this house; we’ve never looked at houses together or talked about what we would like in a future house and we had previously agreed to continue living where we live for at least another 3 years, so I’m not sure how he figured out what “our” dream house would look like. I don’t know if I’m being ungrateful by being disappointed since I haven’t seen it in person yet, but it does look nice from the pictures/videos he’s shown me.
I was really looking forward to searching for our first house together since I’ve never bought a property before. I guess one positive is that it’s still unfurnished, and he wants us to decorate it together. I’m really not sure if I should say anything about this or if I should just go along with things. What would you do in my position?
TL;DR – Husband bought “our” dream house despite never having talked about what we would both like in a future house. I’m disappointed we didn’t get to do the search for a house together but I’m not sure if I’m being ungrateful.
