So two things you need to know. 1) I’m Armenian and I moved to the U.S. 4 years ago because of my career. And 2) she’s been fat since I started dating her but I don’t care about that. I kinda like it admittedly.
We love each other and she’s fucking amazing. We have been dating for 2 years and I want her to move in with me. That said, about 5 people so far have jokingly and seriously asked me “are you dating her for the green card?” AND THAT PISSES ME OFF. I can’t be rude to them, but I never know how to shut them up?
Like, yes, being overweight isn’t healthy and I want her to be healthier, but I’m in love with this person. And it’s also fine if you’re not interested in a certain body type. But know that FAT DOES NOT MEAN UGLY and DON’T TELL PEOPLE inappropriate things!
Anyway, am I being sensitive here? What’s a good way to deal with this?
TL;DR: People judge me and ask if I’m dating my fat girlfriend to get a green card.
