Throwaway for all the usual reasons.
For background, my boyfriend had a history of a bit of cheating at the start of our relationship, about 3 years ago (mainly kissing other people on nights out).
He got very sick last summer and it changed all kinda of things with our relationship (I stayed with him in hospital a whole bunch), and now we live together.
However, we went out for drinks last night and this morning he opened his phone in bed and he had typed out the message ‘I fucking miss you like crazy’ on a ‘secret conversation’ on Facebook messenger (I didn’t even know this was a feature until today lol) to a friend from university.
At the time at uni, I’d made it clear that their friendship made me uncomfortable (i felt it was inappropriate, she is quite a flirty person and he’d lied about going to the gym and then sneaking off to go to the gym with her, things like that). He hadn’t seen her since uni but I know they’d spoken a bit when he was sick etc, which I never had a problem with.
But this ‘secret conversation’ message has really thrown me off. He freaked out when it came up and he knew he’d fucked up, and got really upset and said it didn’t mean anything and he never actually sent it (it was just typed out ready to go).
So now I’m at a bit of a loss what to do? It’s brought up all kinds of negative memories for me, but is it worth walking away way over something like this after everything we’ve been through?
Tl;dr: my boyfriend sent a female friend a message saying ‘I fucking miss you like crazy’ on secret mode on Facebook messenger, and I don’t know what to think.
