My (19F) roommate (19F) has been eating my food. When we first started living together a few months ago, I told her she could have some of my food if she ever needs it. Well all semester things have been fine, but the last few weeks she has eaten half a carton of my eggs, two cans of my soup, a whole bag of chicken breasts, a whole bag of cheese, and all my spaghetti noodles. Yeah that may not sound like a whole lot, but when you are a college student paying for your own food, you can’t spare much. So, I finally texted her the other day about it. I tried to be nice and basically just asked her to at least give me a little money every now and then because she’s eating just as much, if not more than me of what I buy. She immediately said “my parents don’t give me money for food like yours do. All I can afford is soup”. She also said that every time she ate my food it was an “accident”. My parents don’t give me money for food. I work and pay for it out of MY pocket. She claims she can’t afford groceries, yet she always has her boyfriend over eating too. I told her if she can’t afford groceries and needs food to just ask me and it’s be fine. It just pisses me off when I go to make a pot of spaghetti and I can’t because she used all my pasta. Also, she is not in school and does not have a job. She could very well have money if she wanted too. I am a full time student and have a part time job. It’s not that hard. She went on a whole rant about how I’m just being stingy and how I just need to give her a break about “all this food stuff”. That was 3 days ago and she has yet to even look at me. She hasn’t even done her dishes the past week... I let them sit there until it starts to smell and do that shit for her. At this point she’s just being immature. I was gonna try to talk to her when I got home but she immediately left when I got there.... Like how do you deal with a person acting like this? I still have to live with her for 8 months.
TL;DR: Roomate takes my food without asking. Has been eating just as much, sometimes more of my food than I do. When I asked her about it she got all defensive and has yet to even look at me the past 3 days. I was gonna try to talk to her today and she just left before I could say hey. Idk how to go about the situation now.
