Still fresh, found out last night.
She told me about 3 weeks ago that she had started a job working an an upmarket bar fairly close to where I live. I thought that was great! She hadn't had full time job in a while so I thought it was great.
I told her I wanted to come by her work sometime and see her - and she said that the company had a policy of no family members. I thought it was odd because bars are usually really friendly towards staff family members. I didn't think much of it, and thought she was just nervous about having me come in.
I noticed she got paid in cash - a lot. She told me she got paid cash because it was a cash heavy business and it was just easier that way, and again, I thought that it was odd because here, pretty much everyone gets paid through a payslip. She said she got paid 800 for 4 days of work in her first week - more than I make working 45 hour weeks at a consultancy. Tips were her reason - even though there is essentially no tipping culture here (everyone is paid at least minimum wage - 17.50 /h. Again, I didn't really think about it more because it was an upmarket place and maybe they did make a bunch from tips (you can tip - you just don't have to and it's not frowned upon if you don't).
So last night I went to surprise her after I finished working out, when she said she was working, only to find the place closed. I called her, and she called me back to say that she was just in the bathroom, and that she was out for drinks with a workmate. So I picked her up and we had a beer at the bar next to her work, where I asked her to her face if she really worked at the bar, and she said yes. 5 minutes later she said "I have to tell you something. You were right, I don't work at a bar. I'm a receptionist at an escort company"
We had a conversation and talked about it. She was very convincing with her story, but she brought up that some of the girls there have nicknames, and I asked her if she had one. She said yes, and the blood drained from my face. I said I had to go home, she said she did too so I offered to drop her home and she said she was gonna stay for a few more drinks.
You betcha I got home and found her on an escort website.
We haven't really talked since. I came back to talk to her after calling her, and telling her that I knew.we sat in the car for a while, I could barely look at her. She said that she did it because of something I said - that she needed to get a job and be independent (her mum was paying her rent). We've lived together before but haven't for the last while (long story, but didn't change our relationship).
I'm fucking devastated. Not just by the the fact that she was getting paid to have sex with other men, but more by the fact that she lied so blatantly, and without hesitation, to my face in multiple occasions.
I feel like my soul has been sucked out of me. I love this girl to the moon and back, and still love the shit out of her, but man does this fucking hurt. I'm not sure if that trust is something that could be built up again. I don't even know if I want to. She said that she would quit, and has, but that doesn't fix the problem. I asked her dad for permission to marry her a while back, and this feels like she's torn out my heart and fucking shat on it.
I still love her more than anything, and I think that's why this feels so damn brutal.
Anyone else gone through something similar? Can you trust someone after something like this?
TLDR: found out my GF of one and half years was actually escorting when I went to surprise her at the bar she told me she started at 3 weeks ago.
Edit #1: I'm going to see a Councillor tomorrow. Have to talk to someone, and I can't tell my family right now.
Also, GF moved overseas to be with me. Has been here for a year.
