My [F23] boyfriend [M24] is very independent and very serious when is comes to finances. I can’t keep up with the rent anymore and he is a bit frustrated about it.

Before I start I just want to say he is very fair and kind to me and other people.Ok back to the situation, my boyfriend [M24] has grown up in a very poor house hold so he always makes financial plans to and I quote, “Never end up on the lower end again.” So after a few months of dating I moved in with him, because living with him is cheaper than paying for my own apartment he never offered me, but I asked him if I can move in so I can put away money in my savings account. Being the type of guy he is he agrees, but on the condition that I pay at least 40% of the months rent (my rent was 1700, but now I pay only 900 dollars for the last few months) also he buys the food and I cook it. But recently I got laid off from my job because the company wanted to cut back on workers. So then comes the situation of having to pay rent while trying to find a job, so I told him about this and he got very angry and left the room for the night. I come to find out that he was planning a trip for the both of us, but this situation ruined his plans. Afterwards the following morning he told me that he will pay the rent for the next 2 months because the whole point of me moving in is to save money for my own apartment, he doesn’t like anyone living with him because his last ex girlfriend had some of her family move in and not pay rent so he is very skeptical about who lives with him. Back to the point, but he is very anxious about his finances and I worry that he might be angry with me, how can I reassure him that everything is going to be fine?

TL;DR: My boyfriend is worried about his finances because I lost my job and he is now paying the full rent while I live their, but I worry because I feel our relationship might go south.
