My (32m) girlfriend (32f) went out drinking alone last night after a really stressful week. Which I was fine with, I know she needs space sometimes and she doesn't want to be with me when she's in those moods. She's sensitive about her independence/personal space and it's something I'm still learning to see/respect. Unfortunately I went out too, and at around 2 a.m. we ran into each other in the same bar, a complete coincidence, but I shouldn't have gone there cause I knew it's a place she goes sometimes. She was with a couple friends who I'm also friendly with. At first she seemed fine with it, we both laughed when we saw each other, exchanged a few words, and i went to get us drinks.
That's when things got bad - we got separated in this very crowded late night bar. I was with her friends, she was with one friend trying to find us. She took his phone to call us and apparently saw some texts that another very drunk male friend had sent. The texts were full of typos and autocorrects which I think she (also drunk, also very suspicious of all men due to bad past experiences) misread as him trying to sleep with her. Reading a screenshot of it sober this morning, it's clear its typos, but she didn't see that last night.
Anyway this drunk typo guy was standing with me at the bar; when she saw us she apparently just ran out of the bar. apparently she blocked him too and somehow conflated her anger at him with anger at me when she saw us together, as if we were "in" on something together.
when I realized she was gone i called her but she didn't answer. I was trying to be sensitive to her need for space so I didn't call again. she wasn't in her apt when I got back there so I just went to bed. An hour later she comes in at 5 a..m. and is furious at me and won't tell me why. She grabs all my shit and throws it out in the hallway and demands I leave or she'll call the cops. I try to get her to tell me what happened or why she's mad at me but she won't (much of the story above I pieced together today from talking to her friends). I basically begged her but it only made her more furious. then she blocked my phone number - texts won't got through and my calls go to voicemail.
so, part of me thinks she just needs space after a horrible week, she was very drunk and got very dramatic and severely misread a situation. I get that she also needs space from me, and that running into her at the bar after she told me she needs space was probably really frustrating, however blocking me really hurts, and I'm unable to even explain that I had nothing to do with her friend or apologize for going to that bar. she's also a very impulsive person and I'm terrified that this was some kind of breakup or that she's going to keep me blocked and in limbo for days or weeks.
it's only been like 16 hours so maybe I shouldn't be freaking out but what should I do? recommendations on how to handle this? has anyone been in this situation before, does she just need to cool off? this is totally irrational right? she is my world, I love her with everything I have, this is killing me. I've never felt so helpless. no one's ever blocked me before, ever.
