Boyfriend (31M)‘s dad controls bank account. Is this normal?

My boyfriend (31M) who has a good job, has his own house, pays his own mortgage, yet his dad controls his entire bank account and spending activities.. like he would literally call my bf if he sees any “unusual” activities on his debit and credit cards. His dad would question why he spent on so and so… I don’t know.. I’m a little turned off?! But it’s definitely not my place to be concerned let alone bring it up to my bf.

We have been together for 1.5 years and we are definitely serious and now this got me thinking.. would his dad control his bank account even after we get married?Thank you for reading..
