My gf (26) and I (30) became another lockdown break-up - but the reasons for our breakup seem to be appearing in a number of other breakups. I wanted to see if it's a COVID phenomenon?
So my girlfriend of three years and I broke up last week. It sucks. I'm devastated.
Before lockdown we were really happy, things were the best they've ever been.
Even during lockdown we got on well, barely argued, respected each other's space.
But when lockdown came to an end it all started to change. She said she couldn't imagine a future between us anymore. She couldn't picture marrying me. That something in her gut was telling her it wasn't right. She was confused. She said she was unhappy and that she needed to be alone to figure herself out and how to make herself happy without relying on me. She said she wished there was something I did, so we could change it, but she just didn't know why she felt like that.
So my heart broke pretty severely. But I respected her wishes and was a gentlemen about it all, as she's a fantastic person and she was really suffering and felt/feels incredibly guilty about the situation. All I want is her to be happy.
But I spoke to my friend and she knows three other couples who broke up because of the exact same reasons. Which got me thinking, is this a COVID phenomenon?
**TL;DR; : Did COVID cause my break up? **.
