I (19M) live at home with my parents (49M, 47F) while I attend online University. Just yesterday I was sent to the hospital for appendicitis, where I got my appendix removed. I am sitting here currently with sharp aching pains in my stomach...I can barely move if said movement has to use abdominal muscles. My parents have had a cruise planned for my family and me for a few months now, and we board the ship tomorrow afternoon. I am not going to enjoy myself and do not want to go on the cruise. My parents asked the doctor and he said I am medically good to go as long as I don’t partake in any strenuous activities. Whether or not I feel up to going is up to me in his words. My parents took that as an automatic ‘OK’ to go, and I voiced that I am in a lot of pain and, even after a hydrocodone pill, am still barely able to move because of it. They don’t seem to care and sent me out of their room when I went to talk to them about it. What should I do? They support me right now and I get that I’m under their roof, but this just seems unreasonable given the circumstances.
tl;dr - Just had my appendix removed and I have tons of pain, parents tell me I still have to go on a cruise with them.
