Ok...so maybe someone can give me a good perspective, advice, or some inner peace right now. My wife and I took a nice weekend trip, just the two of us, away from the kids. It was a really nice time for the two of us to reconnect.
We got into a conversation about secrets. It was a nice funny pleasant conversation. I revealed a silly secret of a one night stand ( I was single) I had while deployed overseas that I never told anyone about. I asked her if she had any. We have had this conversation before and she never had anything to tell me and we are generally pretty open and chill. She hesitated a minute and then told me. Apparently, when we were first together (9 years ago), she had a little incident with a friend of hers...will call him "A". At the time,
I was just getting out of a relationship and we were still figuring things out. I was still living with my ex technically (a mistake, I know but it was for financial reasons), although we were no longer romantically involved for quite a bit, and we were in the process of moving out separately. Well, my current wife had a hunch one night that I was maybe somehow going to go back to my ex....which was the furthest from the truth. She invited me out with some friends, but I was busy with work until later. She got to drinking with this group and "A" offered to follow her back to her apartment to make sure she got home safe lol. He really liked her, but she was never into him. Anyway, he came up and they started talking.
She was venting her frustration about me. Maybe she was feeling a bit vengeful. She was tipsy, they started making out. She had her top off, he had his pants off and she said she stopped him there, she couldn't go through with it. It ended there she said. Now we were seeing each other at the time, but not totally official if you will. I was being a bit immature and wishy-washy at the time as well, so I really can't be upset with the story as is. I'm not a jealous guy at all either.
The problem is, I really don't believe it. Like a seasoned detective that hears something fishy, something doesn't sound right. I feel like they went through with something. It wouldn't matter to me as much if we still didn't see "A" and his wife occasionally. I never knew anything had ever happened between them before and it makes it a little awkward now. When she told me, it really didn't bother me at the moment, but the possible lie or watering it down gets to me over the last few days. It also bothers me that she kept that from me for 9 years. Should I ask further to be sure? Would she ever tell? I wouldn't be mad, but I would like to know. Thanks for any input....fire away!!
TLDR: Wife may have hooked up with someone when we first started dating. Not sure. Should I probe further?
